Scrapyard is a global hackathon organized by high schoolers. Scrapyard is a hackathon with a "scrappy" theme of stupid inventions! It's organized by Hack Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports a global community of over 48,000 high school makers.
Location
We will be utilizing the Learning Commons as the main workspace, and participants are encouraged to use the TechCentral Makerspace for their projects!

We utilize the Cleveland Public Library, Main Library as our venue! Please follow their rules, failure to do so may result in removal from the premises either you or our event. Depending on severity, violations may be forwarded to the Hack Club Conduct Working Group.
CPL RulesWe're a Hack Club sponsored hackathon! All participants are expected to abide to the Hack Club, Code of Conduct during the event. Failure to do so may result in a report to the Hack Club Conduct Working Group.

What is Scrapyard?
All high-school & upper-middle-school aged students are welcome to come! You don't have to be a member of the Hack Club community or be a Hack Club leader.
Who can participate in Scrapyard?
Yep! Swag and good vibes are all included. Plus, if you’re joining us from afar, we’ll cover the cost of gas or a bus / train ticket.
All This, for free?
Your laptop, chargers, toiletries, and an open mind! If you plan to work on a hardware project, bring the tools you'll need.
What do I need?
This hackathon is for creatives of all skill levels! We'll have workshops and other events so join us and let's learn together. If you'd like to start exploring some introductory projects, check out Hack Club Workshops.
I’m not good at coding. Can I still participate?
The scrappiest thing you can imagine –- jank is encouraged. Games? Apps? Websites? Programming languages? Hardware? You name it! We’ll have resources and mentors to help you out.

What if my parents are concerned?
Most schools provide excuses for educational excursions, please contact [email protected] with your school name and we'll inform them about your attendance at Scrapyard Cleveland!
